I had applied for a Remote Graphic Designer job on LinkedIn, and two days later, a contact using the name Aiden Nguyen emailed me, speaking about how he found my application and had already scheduled a screening test for the following morning. He needed my contact info, name, address, phone number, to which I foolishly supplied. Afterwards, he sent me a .docx file, attached below, containing questions that, although fitting for the position, gave me a red flag, because a legitimate company would use its services to screen a candidate and establish trust. After the screening was completed, he said I was accepted off the bat and would send a job offer once I re-sent the aforementioned information. It was through the company’s true profile on LinkedIn where I found out that this “Aiden” had targeted other people, and he was among the list of scammers in a rising surge of fake positions on the platform.
