Clear Travel Services (via "Tourism & Travel Show 2023") Reports & Reviews (1)

- Hanover, MD, USA

Last month, I received a letter in the mail from Tourism & Travel Show 2023 inviting my spouse and I to attend a travel showcase recently at the Doubletree Hotel in Annapolis. In exchange for our attendance, we would receive two complimentary round trip airline vouchers including two nights at one of over 1,000 Marriott, Hilton, or Hyatt hotels. First 50 attendees would receive a bonus $100.00 dinner voucher at over 45,000 restaurants. The presenter was a rep from Clear Travel Services and he tried to sell us membership to a wholesale travel agency service for $16,193. His Powerpoint presentation used the ScamPulse.com logo and he claimed his company was accredited by you. Looking at their website, they also have your ScamPulse.com accreditation logo. However, I searched on your website and do not see Clear Travel Services listed. I believe they are running a scam because they pressure you to buy their service. After the presentation, one of their reps would privately sit down with you and try to negotiate down the membership fee. They tried to prevent my wife and I from walking away to think about it. We finally got away. We were not given any vouchers. Later, the links to redeeming the vouchers arrived by email. For the restaurant bonus, I had to pay a $12.95 processing fee to start the redemption process of receiving $25 discount certificates per month until the bonus ran out. A list of restaurants popped up with minimum prices we'd have to pay to take advantage of the $25 gift certificate. Then, I would have to pay $10 to get the certificate. In essence, the certificate was really for $15 and I would have to pay a minimum of $50 at one of the restaurants. Many restaurants listed were set up that way. As for the airline/hotel voucher, I would have to pay a $50 processing fee. And, then I'd have to prepare to pay $400 (for my spouse and I) to cover taxes, fees, and agency costs). This is definitely a scam. I have read online that there are more of these travel & tourism lecture scams going on around the country. This particular one is actually using ScamPulse.com to proclaim that they're legit. You should go after them for that.
