Type of a scam Employment
I was searching for a data entry job online and soon received a text message asking me to go to Telegram for an interview. I was instructed to add Stephine Walsh to my telegram contacts, this person asked me some questions and said I scored 7.5 out of 10 and to go on skype the next morning at 9 am for my first meeting with Michael Steenbergh, skype contact info [email protected] It was just chatting no video, he said a check would be overnighted to me for purchasing the materials and software needed for training. I was told to report back the next morning at 9 am. I did and the check showed up shortly after that for $4,656.25. I was told to go to the bank and deposit it. The letter that came with the check looked suspicious as there were spelling, punctuation and other errors. I went to my bank and told them that I think this is a scam and asked them to confirm the check was bogus. My bank told me it looked like a scam to them, then I went to the bank on the check, Wells Fargo and asked them the same thing. They thought is was fraudulent as well and they made a copy to send to their fraud department. When I came home I told "Michael" via Skype that my bank would not cash the check due to it being fraudulent. I was also told to email [email protected] to let them know the check was cashed. I had also looked up all 3 addresses (2 on their website and the 1 the check came from) and the 2 from their website are large office complexes where there would be a suite number required and neither of the website addresses had a suite number, also all 3 addresses are linked to loopnet.com realty company.
