I was interviewed and offered a remote position for administrative assistant. I did not provide any of my personal information or bank account information. I only provided my email address, phone number and address. They made the offer seem real, but I knew something was off because I normally speak to people in person or via SKype or Zoom. They conducted through Google Chat, which was weird. They offered to mail me a check to purchase the suppliesi needed for the job. They emailed me an offer letter and W4 and I9 forms. I contacted the actual company and they told me that it was not a legit offer and to contact BBB.

I received information for employment,went through an interview and was offered position with legitimate paperwork. Or so I thought. I contacted the information line through the company to verify, and they told me it was fraud. At this point I had already submitted a W4 form back to them with all my personal information. So I am doing what I can to prevent identity theft. They had sent out a check for me to get office supplies, I haven't picked it up yet but will not being cashing it obviously.
