I contacted a website claiming to have puppies for sale. I was contacted back via email from a man supposedly named Jon Connick. He asked me typical questions that you are asked when purchasing a dog and communicated with me via text message at this point. He sent me pictures of the puppy and a video to make it seem legitimate as well as a picture of his employment badge for the school he worked for in Maine, but he lived in California. Then requested we pay for the puppy upfront to have the dog sent from California to Florida. I was suspicious when asked for payment and they were requesting it via Zelle. When I was sent the payment information they wanted me to send it to a different email address, [email protected] and the name I was given was Pierre Bita Connick. When I entered the info into Zelle to check the persons info, it came up as Pierre Ongolo. I did not send any funds to this person because when I googled Pierre Ongolo the only people that came up were in Cameroon South Africa. I immediately cut communications with this person and blocked them. Now I am worried that they will use my name to scam other people here in the US. Because the name they used, Jonathan Connick, is a real person that lives in Maine and they were using his info to try to scam me.
