I had been planning on attending this protest so the message did not seem completely out of place, although I did not respond or follow the hyperlink. When I went to the protest on 2/17 at 3pm, I learned that the actual protest had been held at 12pm and that I had been deliberately mislead regarding the timing. In subsequent conversations I have had with other locals, it appears that only know liberals were targeted with this scam, and that the link was a phishing scam to collect user data. I have not been able to safely attempt to contact those responsible.
