Consumer was called by someone claiming to be from Citi Mortgage lending department. They informed him that he owes $1,987 for escrow on his current home. If he did not pay, they would begin foreclosure proceedings. Consumer is a Citi customer and he contacted them to verify. They told him the calls are not from them and that the only way they would begin foreclosure is if he was behind on mortgage. The scammer asked consumer to send payment through Western Union.
