They used a Facebook ad that looked like it was from a company called Cintas Inc and when my sister clicked on it it opened a FB messenger chat with them where they had her download Microsoft Teams. There they continued the conversation pretending to be recruiters from another company, Health Data Movers. During those conversations they asked for her bank information, asked her to create an ID.me account, and asked her to upload her driver's license and social security number. They said that they would wire or ACH deposit $3400 into her bank account for her to purchase equipment from their "verified vendors" so she could work from home in a data entry position. Later they said the check was mistakenly cut for over $14000 but was already approved and on the way to her account. This is when it seemed odd to her, so she went to the Contact Us page on the Health Data Mover website to ask if the individuals she was talking to were indeed with the company. She was emailed that they had no record of any employees by that name and that it was a scam.
