I was immediately suspicious as my banking involves CIBC but isn't directly with them. I checked my accounts from the banking site and called into the bank. They told me that a text like this wouldn't have come from them as that's not their typical mode of communication. They also checked my account and confirmed that no message was sent from them to me. They advised me to immediately block the number.
However, I want to report this to ensure that people are extra cautious when they receive texts concerning their banking accounts.
(Because I was cautious and checked my online accounts via bank website vs link there was no information given allowing them to take money. However, I believe the intent would have been to take money)
