Answered an ad seen on Facebook Marketplace for a John Deere tractor. Looked amazing and asking price was about half of what would be expected. Ad said to email Christina A Rothwell for inquiries which we did. She answered quickly, said her husband died and she needed to sell the equipment. Said she contracted with Payward Escrow Shipping, Inc since she also had health issues and moved to her parents home in CA for assistance with care. Said she wanted a quick sale and if we were interested to move quickly since she had other interested inquires. Sent additional pictures and tractor info including a serial number. We asked where the tractor was and if we could see it in person. She informed us via email that Payward Escrow Shipping had taken possession of the tractor and had it stored at their business in CA, but not to worry because we could view it when delivered and if not satisfied we had 5 days in which to void the transaction. She said shipping costs were covered by her, including return if we were not satisfied. She became a little pushy regarding completing the contract with Payward that we received via email which asked for SS#, picture of drivers license, and a selfie! Red flags and alarms were going off at this point. I did google Payward Escrow Shipping, Inc and their website came up which seemed legit. However, it still didn't feel right. I contacted the ScamPulse.com of nothern CA and gave the business info to an agent via chat. Was informed they didn't have the business listed, the address on their website was to a hotel, and the phone number was listed for another business. Happy we are not out $22,500.00, the asking price for the tractor.
