Type of a scam Online Purchase
I sent an email via the website and was contacted back almost immediately by Shawn McGregor. He informed me that yes, the puppy was available, and would actually be 800$, since they were in North Carolina and preferred to fly their puppies. Shawn asked me to provide some information about myself and my living situation. Upon my reply, he informed me that Sanny would be more than happy to be my puppy. He sent several pictures of the same puppy, and described how the puppy was to travel.
Payment was sent via Zelle. I found this strange at the time, as I typically purchase via PayPal or Apple Pay, but at this point my assumption was he was just greedy. Not my problem--I was interested in the puppy. I sent the money and Shawn and I agreed on a delivery of Wednesday evening, after work.
On Wednesday, Shawn emailed me to tell me he was arranging shipment. This was done via a business called Pet Shipping Agency, which is also a scam. Immediately, I was requested to send an additional $2000 to upgrade the puppy's crate, due to a combination of "Covid" and "Inclement Weather," which I did--again via Zelle. Roughly half an hour later, I was again contacted to send ADDITIONAL funds for "Pet Insurance."
At this time, I caught on it was a scam and did not reply other than to request my money back. This has, of course, not arrived. And neither did the puppy.
