I inquired about purchasing/adopting two puppies from an online breeder. The breeder asked for a $500 deposit for each puppy which was submitted through Zelle using my bank on November 12, 2023. The online breeder requested the remainder of the payment with a different Zelle email address and that’s when I became suspicious. So I asked the online breeder if I could FaceTime/zoom video with the puppies and he started being defensive. He never gave me a refund that he promised that he would and when I looked up their website for puppy scams, I found it.

Cheery Schnauzers professes to be a Schnauzer breeder, but please do your research, and notice that they do not have any reviews except on their own website. Everything seemed legit, I even got a contract and health information for the parents. However, on the day in which my puppy was supposed to be delivered to my home, things started to seem off. I will have to write a separate review for the shipping company, but I am almost positive they are the same person, so I'll include the details here. First, he was supposed to be flying commercially, and I received a tracking link for a freight shipment for a company called Freight Expertise Delivery Agency. Everything looked legit and I had a tracking number, so although I thought it was weird, I didn't worry. Around 3pm, when he was supposed to be taking off at 4pm, I received a note from the shipping company that my puppy's crate wasn't compliant, and I needed to pay $1,000-$2,000 for a "rental" "thermal" crate for the puppy during the flight, which supposedly would be refunded when the dog was delivered. After being told that the crate I chose was "out of stock" and I had to pay another $500 (which for some reason, [censored]ically, I agreed to, since I of course really wanted my puppy to arrive, and they insist that it's refundable). Thinking it was suspicious, I email the breeder, asking what they think. He assures me it's totally fine and that this has happened before and their customer has gotten their money back. After waiting for his flight to be cleared, the shipping company sends another email, saying that my puppy is with the vet and needs two "anti-pressure and anti-stress" vaccines before he can fly, totaling of course $1,000. At this point I know I am being scammed, and I write to the breeder, saying I would like my money back or that he should pay these fees, since they are supposedly refundable. He replies angrily, insisting that he is a Christian and theft goes against his values. I tell him that I'm not accusing him of anything, but that if he is a legitimate breeder, he would help me figure this out. After that, I hear nothing, even after letting him know that I would be pursuing legal action, and have not heard from him since. CHEERY SCHNAUZERS IS 100% A SCAM, and I am positive that the supposed shipping company is the same scammer.

The website had a puppy listed for sale. I spoke with them both via email and phone. I sent payment to reserve the dog. Once payment was received no other contact was made. I did some investigation and determined that this website was a scam. The exact same information was listed on two other websites prior and are no longer functioning. I tried to contact the seller but no response. I filed a claim with Venmo since I sent the payment through with Purchasing Protection.
