I was online in my class conference on Thursday, 02/02, when my smartphone rang around 7:07pm. The caller identified himself with Chase Bank and stated if I was aware of any transaction with eBay for $800.00 on my account. He was calling to prevent the transaction and went on to proceed with declining the transaction, then began going over my identity and the card associated with the purchase. He identified a (Mike Miller) in Alabama, where the transaction was being made. Then, said he would go ahead and cancel the card— he promoted the first part of the account beginning with “420767…) then asked me to finish with the rest of the card number. Then stated my social security number, saying “It’s 4152, is that correct?” I acknowledged that. Then started asking me a few times over about the number on the back of my card—when it dawned on me I should call the bank. He was urgent about getting this and I hung up. He called right back through the same number (800)945-2000, apologizing for the disconnection and I said “I need to call my bank first … and hung up . This was about 7:13pm, upon contacting Chase Bank the representative stated there was nothing wrong with the account mulling over the last transactions on the card. After reporting to the bank they turned it over to investigators for more information. And the card was in fact replaced again. This is the fourth time in 6-months, literally. For the same problem. Recurrent with fraudulent charges placed onto the card. I do not know how they got my information but they have the last four digits of my social security number.
