Charter Communications Impostor - employment/fake check Reports & Reviews (1)

I am registered with CareerBuilders, an online job finding website. I received a message inviting me for an online interview that same day. I accepted the interview. After the interview I was told the interviewer was going to contact HR and get back with me. When the next message came, I was told I had the job - Virtual Administrative Coordinator in the Management Department of Charter Communications. My pay rate was going to be $29.50 per hour with one week of paid training to begin in three days at 1:00 PM.

Before training began, I needed to have received and had "installed" my new office consisting of a laptop containing all the software I would need for my job and well as an all-in-one office machine. Supposedly, I would have to order these myself so that the warranties would be in my name. The funds to purchase these items were called a sign-on bonus, and I would receive an online deposit Cashiers Check to deposit into my checking account. And the next day I was supposed to order the merchandise following their instructions using the money that would now be in my bank account. The next day I would have an installer come to my home office and set up my new laptop and office machine - printer.

Sure enough, I received the cashier's check for $1930. I deposited it into my bank account. At around 5:30 PM I received a call from the State Employees Credit Union. The person told me that she thought the check was a scam! I had had no idea what so ever! I thought my ship had finally come in! I have been out of work a whole year! I called the North Carolina SECU back and asked them to please process the check so that we would be sure it was a scam. She agreed and said it would be about four days before the check would be cleared through Ally Bank.

That night I called Ally Bank Fraud Department to give them the routing number and other numbers on the check to see if it was any good. The first person would not give me any information because I do not have an account there. All I learned was that the routing number was correct. So I opened an online checking account with Ally Bank and called them back. This time the person was looking for the cashier's check numbers in my account before she even asked me for the numbers on the check. The cashiers check numbers are: 124003116 1087287775.

Early this morning I learned that State Employees Credit Union of North Carolina could not match up the account number on the Cashier's Check, so they did not do anything else with it. On the daily message board or chat, I informed the scammer that my bank would not cash the check. She said sixteen others had cashed their checks with no problem.

I really don't know if sixteen others were truly involved, or if it was just me this time. Spectrum does not have jobs with the title I was given. Everyone be careful when trying to find jobs using Career Builder and any of the other job finding sites. Yahoveh will help me find the position he has for me.
