I worked VERY hard, jumped through hoops for their events, and went out of my way to help their events happen smoothly. I helped them make a TON of money, and they did not pay me. They put a deposit down on the agreement. When the event is over, time to get paid, a common practice they do is they start ghosting you. Getting paid was ALWAYS a HASSLE. At one point i had to wait 7 months (bounced checks and 84 excuses later) to get paid, and this was because i was on top of it. After weeks of being ignored and unpaid, i spoke up and posted a review about how i didn’t get paid. They immediately messaged me saying i have 24 hours to remove my review or they will sue me for “defamation.”
That is ILLEGAL.
On the phone, they told me in order to get paid i have to remove my review AND sign an NDA. Knowing they have a history of not paying people, I said pay me and I will remove my review. They refused (while screaming at me).
Online, their response "its illegal for us to pay you without filling out these tax forms". (Does your team know that an NDA is not a “tax form”?)
They paid me in the past, but all of a sudden i posted a review and suddenly they need these "tax" forms?

They've done this to MANY others. hey have been kicked off of production websites for their rude behavior and not paying people.

There is a class action lawsuit in review, several voices (mostly women) who had similar experiences as I did with Characters for Hire including: being harassed (such as fake YELP reviews made by the company, harassing phone calls, etc), being bullied, gaslit, threatened, blackmailed, consistently lied to when it comes to payment, and being unpaid.

I have filed a court order, I am suing you for:
-you havent paid me for services/materials I have provided for your events
-Endangering me and your staff to help make YOU more money
-illegal activity on your part.

They claim they do not have an address, so i cannot send them lawsuit paperwork. They are NOT showing up to court.
They hang up and block me when i try to reach out.

This is the most dishonest and frustrating company ive ever dealt with

Beatrice Sniper, you can continue to violate libel laws by making up stories and lies but this will only get you in more trouble legally. We are continually making screenshots of your false and slanderous statements. If you wish to receive your payment, you need to have your attorney contact us to go over certain stipulations. Your check is waiting in our accounting office ready for you to pick up. You just need to work with an attorney otherwise you can continue to wait for your check. Thank you.

Never paid, Worst company I have ever had an experience with. This company showed me how sad it is for the working Actor! Sad I was the only one not paid and I was one of the employees that didn't complain and waited through the process. The treatment by the payroll of this company is horrible. I was threatened by employees and toyed with by staff who is in charge? Let's chat! The company tries to throw legal jargon about their Contract BUT This fake company don't read their own contracts themselves. The company stated that Payments are to be processed to Talent within 10-14 business day with a prolong of 30days. 66 days went by and I was not paid, Which makes a "BREACH OF CONTRACT" by the Company itself. It won't kill you to do your job and pay the actors that actual go to bat for you. So This company is FRAUDULENT, BREAKS CONTRACTS and FIND EXCUSES TO AVOID PAYING THEIR ACTORS!

"Characters for Hire" also threaten Actors with Black Balling/Do not hire call list AFTER These Scammers Do the damage to the relationship by not meeting the contractual obligations!

We process over 1000 e-checks per week for talent in over 100 cities nationwide. It's possible this person's check did not go through our system or went to their spam folder. We do not know who this person is as they hide their identity. This poster may be a former dismissed contractor or a competitor looking to libel the company's reputation. If we were indeed a fake company as this poster claims, we would not still be in business.
