The scammer sent me a check for $3,865.43 with a letter (with no letterhead, no company name, and no company address) stating in their words: “Kindly email me to confirm you’ve received this package intact. After that you may proceed to deposit your startup check.

Once the deposit is made, you’re required email me a clear copy of the deposit receipt or any form of confirmation so the funds can be processed/released, as well as for documentation purpose. Be kind to send a copy of the deposit confirmation to your hiring manager as well.

Please do not fail to provide the following information across to me, by yourself:

1. Deposit Receipt/confirmation.

2. Details of how the funds were used and exact amount used.

3. Receipts for all purchases or payments made.”

It goes on to reiterate the importance of emailing this ‘Billy Newman’ both before and after depositing the check to “avoid any issues with processing the deposit.”

I was contact by email. looking for a remote position for a company name Marvell Technology Inc. by the name of Anthoby Hegwood. He said will send a check to buy equipment & had to deposit it in act. A check came 4/27/23 in the amount of $3,876.50. Spoke with some family & friends & a supervisor and they said that is a scam. google info and the company Marvell Technology Inc come up listed as a scam. Telegram Anthony and told him will return the check & he said that is not acceptable. I believe the check is fake. I am no longer interest in position had a family emergency come up.
