I had put an application on indeed, a few days later I received a text message stating they would like to have an interview, I was forwarded to the HR Manager and she began the interview process. I thought it was legit and they made me an offer to good to pass up (red flag). They then emailed me the application and all the other forms I’ve filled out for jobs in the past (introduction, tax forms), making it feel even more legit. I filled them out and sent them back, they then sent me a copy of a check to be deposited in my bank for when I would get paid(direct deposit). All was well until they asked me at 7pm to go to Walgreens and told me to follow there instructions when I get there(red flags). At this point I was highly curious what they could possibly be needing, but due to my eagerness to start working again I obliged. When I arrived at Walgreens I was instructed to go inside and buy an American Express gift card and put $250 on it. Now I can’t see anything but red flags and begin interrogating them, they then said if it would be better then I could send it to them over Zelle. I asked if the laptop they were saying they would reimburse for could be bought directly or if sending them money was absolutely necessary, because I am not comfortable with that. I decided to tell them I would get back with them tomorrow, I locked down every account and credit outlet I have. Now I just wait and see if my identity is going to be stolen, 10/10 do not recommend.
