Type of a scam Employment
I am a MD and I applied for a cannabis physician job with a business called Mint Sky Staffing on your site, indeed. My understanding of my role for this position was to evaluate patients for medical marijuana use via telemedicine. I was contacted via email by a person named Cedric Britton on 8/6/22. He requested an interview with me, so I acquiesced and interviewed with him on 8/10/22. He was interested in me because I have many medical licenses. So, he hired me right on the spot and quickly, like, that same night, had to to fill out and sign a non- disclosure agreement and contract with Mint Sky. A couple of days later, I was made to complete a W4 and I-9. I listed my social security number and bank information on that form. On the 15th of September, I was emailed by Cedric and he asked if I had a Louisiana license. I answered his question and asked when does he think that I would be working. I had been waiting for a month at that point. Cedric never responded to my question and I have not heard from him since.
I have had an uptick of calls from mortgage companies and one auto company in Connecticut. I have shut down my credit. I’m not blaming Cedric or the Mint Sky personnel, but they have my private information yet I have not worked. My hands are tied because I have signed a contract with them. I’m suspicious of them for all of the former reasons, but also because Cedric NEVER returned my message.
Could you please look into this company? I plan to quit the job that never was, hoping that they won’t try to sue me.
I’m concerned that this business might be a scam. I’m not sure about Cedric and what his role is in the equation, but he seems suspicious to me as well.
