We contracted with C&D Movers because they were highly rated on YELP and BBB. We were quoted a price based on Cubic Feet over the phone from an inventory based on estimated number of boxes and the amount of furniture we had. We called back prior to the move to update the box count and at that point, the inventory was very accurate. The movers showed up 2 1/2 hours after the window of time that we were given of 10am-2pm (4:30 pm). We had moved almost all of the boxes to the garage hoping to help the movers and save some time. We bought them dinner at about 8 pm. They told us that the truck they had brought was full and they needed to take a load to a larger truck that was waiting at an undisclosed location - we were surprised but so tired and just wanted to get our stuff all loaded - we were not given any other options. They came back 1 1/2 hours later and loaded the rest - finishing after midnight! They had not put anything on the floors and the carpets were all tracked with dirt/mud; they put a huge hole in our wall that we repaired as they just ignored the fact that they had done it! Then, they told us that we had double the cubic feet that we were quoted - same number of boxes, etc that we had given to the "salesman" - yet the movers said it was more CF!! Our hands were tied - they had taken some of our memories and household goods already! And it was well past midnight! We tried to call our original contact - John Russo to no avail! Someone named Paul finally called back and was extremely condescending and rude! He told us that we had to pay a deposit and would not take a credit card - we had to write the check and send him a photo immediately. Remember - it was past midnight! So we did it....Then when we got to our new home several states away - they held our goods hostage again! Demanding the balance BEFORE the truck would come to our home! Again - they would not take a credit card - we had to take a check to their Bank (Chase Bank). A different truck came to our home (the first truck was an enterprise rental; the second was a different rental company - NEVER did we see anything with C&D Movers on it!) In the end - they charged us double - 3200 cf plus a dedicated route fee - the truck that showed up to our new house had three different loads on it and when they finished unloading our items it only emptied the truck to the 1800 cf mark on the truck!!! We had so many lost, damaged and broken things - I lost track of it all. They even tried to give us nearly a dozen items that were not ours! They did not even have an inventory list when they brought our goods to our new home - we used our copy to try to confirm what items did arrive... Worst experience ever!!
