2 to 3 years ago a big red warning screen popped up telling me my computer got infected and that if I tried to close the window I would have major problems. There was a phone number to call and if I remember correctly they were passing themselves off as Microsoft. I called the number explained what was happening. They told me no problem they could fix it with me buying a subscription for the fix. I of course thought it could be a scam but I needed the problem fixed. I bought the 5 year plan at the 3 year cost. The problem got fixed and I had no more problems. I was still a little suspicious so I watched for the credit card statement, it came and there was the charge for the correct amount, there was nothing charged other than what should be charged and nothing suspicious ever happened after that. I check my email today and I have mail from this CBR Data Technical Support saying if I don't call to cancel that they will automatically sign me up again. I can't remember ever talking to this company before so I call them. I asked what it was about and they tell me it's about my protection plan. I question them some more because I know it hasn't been 5 years yet and that before they said they were Microsoft. The guy explains to me that it is because they want to give me a refund now and I'm thinking something is not making sense. He asks me if I am using Google Chrome I tell him I am not sure, just whatever came with Windows 10. He says he needs to get into my computer to take care of the refund and starts to instructing me on what keys to press. I told him before I do any of that I need a little more info on why they are refunding money to me. The guy all of a sudden says he will call me back in 5 minutes and that was now over an hour ago.
