My wife and I have fallen victim to a kitten scam. We shopped online for a purebred Russian blue kitten, found what looked like a legitimate seller (https://russianbluefarm.company.com/) and began the process of adopting the kitten. The seller sent us a what looked like a valid contract (which we signed) and we finalized the deal with payment to them using Venmo (using venmo payment handle @so_simple). They then asked us to pick a delivery day. When I started working out the last steps for delivery I became suspicious. This is when the kitten we were adopting named “Chloe” wasn’t removed from their list of “available kittens for sale” after 3 days. After researching this “cattery” using google, I discovered other people have been scammed by these same people. I came to find out that the scammers will contact the buyer again once delivery is finalized and pretend they are from the shipping company. They then say they need another $1300 for insurance and carrier service which is supposedly refunded to us once the cat is delivered. It’s all a scam. You never receive a cat and the scammers keep all of your money. We are now unable to contact the "seller" as they are not answering our emails or when we try to reach out using Venmo's contact option. We've never been caught up in a scam like this before because we are usually very careful but in this case every step of the process appeared totally legit. The communications were professional, the contract looked completely valid and even included TICA (The International Cat Association) numbers for the kitten, the Sire and the Dam. Now the seller won’t return any of our emails.
