On January 1, 2016 when downloading a file for a video game my computer was attacked by malware with a phone number appearing on the screen to fix the problem. I called the number, they fixed the issue and charged me $300 for a three year protection program. The company went bankrupt after the three years, and I never spoke to anyone in the company when my 3 year coverage ended as I was not interested in renewing. In February of 2023 they called me constantly, with a different number every time. I ignored the calls as they seemed fishy. Eventually they left me a message claiming i would be charged $1600 if i didn't call them back that day to cancel my policy. I phoned them and they claimed i had been auto renewed after my 3 year program and owed them $5000 for termination of the policy. After much argument i relented and paid them hoping they would go away. In July of 2023 they called again, different number every time, and several calls an hour. I ignored each call until i received another message saying i would be charged $1600 if i didn't cancel my policy that day. They claimed i had signed up for a 2nd policy with the original one and much like the previous time i panicked and paid. These guys are scamming people with a service i don't believe they are even providing. With harassment and threats they make you bend to their will.
