The scammer reached out to me pretending to be an executive (Tim/Timothy Fields) at a company called MDB, Inc. (Michael D. Baker, Inc.). They wanted to interview me for a Remote Copy Editor position. Attached are some emails and the pre-job briefing they sent. This briefing directed me to install a Wire Secure Messenger program, which is where my interview was conducted, only through text (no voice or video) because the interviewer had "other candidates to tend to at the same time." A few days later, I got a job offer from the same email address. At this point, all these red flags made me suspicious: the text-only interview, poor grammar, poor online presence (especially LinkedIn), incorrect office locations, high payrate, the fact that I didn't feel like I'd be the most qualified candidate, and, finally, their request for my bank info to set up direct deposit at the same time I'd accept the job offer. I replied to the email saying this seems like a scam and I'm not comfortable providing my payment info until I have more information. They never replied.
