I am a care taker of pets on care.com. My first job offer was to care for a dog from a so called deaf man living out of town. He said that he was relocating to my area in a couple of weeks and sent me a check of 2450.73. He was very adamant about me depositing the check in my account asking for pictures of deposit slips and etc. Upon further instruction, he told me to send one half of the check to someone named Diondra Shelby, Dallas, Tx in the amount of 550 and the other one to Maurice Blackwell, Indianapolis, Indiana of 1450 and keep for 400 for myself to secure me for the pet sitting position. (next day) I checked my account to exactly 2450.73 was withdrawn to the negative from my account; it was a bogus check and the bank took their funds back so basically I paid two random strangers a little over 2000 dollars from my own pockets. No one is reimbursing me for this fraud.. NO ONE! Its the type of scam where the victims are completely powerless if they aren't careful and it seems like care.com allows this type of thing to happen quite often as I have done my research (which I should have done at first) the same exact email that was sent to someone else was sent to me... This was the email sent to me: "Hello How is your day going? Thanks for your response, I am glad to read from you. I am a Father 3, Samuel, John and Samantha, they are 5 yrs, 3yrs and 6 month respectively.I attended Chicago School for the Deaf where I achieved my highest qualification. I have my own business (Self Employed). I attend the catholic. We are in the process of relocating to your area. I am 38 and I am hard of hearing. I work based on the development and counseling of the deaf people in the community, I am moving to your area in few weeks with my adorable dog and I really need a honest and responsible care for my pet. Chester he is cute and adorable he is very friendly and playful...."
