Care Net/Credit Card Services Reports & Reviews (1)

- Milford, CT, USA

Received a telemarketing call on my CELL PHONE from a TX number (when they're actually from NY), and they promised to deliver the following:

1. Savings of 9,200 or more

2. Get my interest rate on ALL my credit cards down to 6.99% interest

3. Get out of debt 3-5x faster

I was initially speaking with a woman, and she said her company could help get me out of debt...and I asked her, "Well ,how much is this service?". That's when the first lie was made; she said, "Oh, there's no cost to you, we get paid from the interest that you save from the credit card company." So since I thought, well...if there's no cost, I'll see what this is all about. After being on the phone for about 20 minutes, she says she needs to transfer me to "Jonathan" who would explain the program to me further. I spoke to him for another 45 minutes, and he made me those three promises, and then said he had to connect me to his Financial Advisor, William Deboise, who would take care of getting me out of debt. William was a fast-talking slick salesman, who made the same promises, and said he would call my credit card companies with me on the phone, to make the initial contact, giving him permission to speak to them on my behalf. I felt hesitant, as this was an unsolicited incoming call, and he also asked me for my social security number, birthday, and I felt very uncomfortable giving that information. He said, "The information is encrypted on the screen, so I can't see it, so you have no need to worry"...however two times later, he asked for my social again, and I asked why...he said he couldn't see the numbers on the screen...so I reluctantly gave the numbers again.....and after being on the phone (in total) for about 3 hours, I insisted I had to go, as I had a lot of things to do that day. He was able to contact my credit card companies and found out one card had a small portion of my billing at a penalty rate of 29.99, and the majority of my bill was at 8.49. He asked to speak to a supervisor and requested that the penalty rate be dropped...and they did....(but that was something I could easily have done myself, as I call my credit cards regularly and speak to supervisors all the time, I'm not afraid to ask tough questions or make strong requests)....so after that was done, he kept saying, "Yeah...well you can see how I got that card down to 8.2, and I know when I call back on Monday, I can get that down to 6.99." He DID NOT get it down to 8.2, it was 8.49, as I wrote everything down he said. After speaking to my other credit card company, AAA Visa, I have a large balance, but my interest rate is only 8.15. He asked to speak to a supervisor to get the rate down lower, and they said that was impossible, it was already at a rock-bottom rate. He also made the suggestion that I close the account, and settle for 10k less, and then have it paid off in one year. I told him that whenever you "settle" on any credit accounts, the unpaid balance shows up as a delinquency on your credit report. He said, "No, that wouldn't happen. We have a way of getting your balance down 10k, and no penalty to you". I didn't believe what he was saying, as I'm an informed consumer, and know the credit laws. I told him that I had to go, and he hasselled me for about 20 minutes as I tried to get off the phone, pushing me for my bank account information so that he could set up the billing to start Dec 1, for $1,490 (set apart in 5 "easy" payments of 298 each). I didn't have my banking info with me, all I told him was what I knew off the top of my head, my bank name and the last four of my account (and didn't feel comfortable giving him that information, as that is not protected like my credit cards are). He called me on Thursday 11/10, and my birthday was the next day, Veteran's day...a holiday...and he said he wouldn't call me on my birthday, but would wait til Monday. I received a call from an "Unknown" number at 9:06 on my birthday, 11/11, and I know that was their company, because we had gotten disconnected during the call, and he called me back from an "Unknown" number. I received a message from that number....but it was a woman demanding payment of $1490 for their services. I received two more calls from a CA number: 916-758-8659 at 10:07 and 10:08 on November 11, then another "Unknown" call at 12:01, no message. This morning, November 14, (8:48 am) I received another call from that Sacramento, CA number (916)-758-8659, and it was the fast-talking William Deboise, asking for my bank account information. After I got off the phone with William on 11/10, (finally)...I called my credit card company and spoke to a supervisor and told her that this Credit Card Services company had contacted me promising to get me out of debt, and she said it was a scam. She said it was impossible for anyone (no matter who called) to get my rate down to 6.99%, as my rate was already at the lowest possible rate. I also confirmed with her that if I closed the account for 10k less, that it would ding my credit. She said any "settlement" reflects negatively on your credit. I'm worried now that this company will use my private information to open up accounts and steal my identity. I opened up LifeLock today, and was already told that my information is on the "Dark Net", so I have a feeling it was this person, or company who did that. I called them today and told them to never call me again, that I was not interested in their services. I also signed up for the Do Not Call Registry.

There are so many levels of deception with this company. First, they call from a false number (first call from TX, following calls from CA), and lie when asked questions. They also promise what they can't deliver, and the public should be warned about them. They are not reputable in my opinion. I don't know yet if I lost any money. He has my bank routing number and the last four digits, as well as my social security number and birthdate. I hope you can do something to shut this company down so they don't take money from anyone else.
