Type of a scam Credit Cards
Caller was requesting me to verify type of credit card, expiration dates, account numbers, and balances due. Caller identified himself as calling from "Cardservices." First wanted to verify if I had a MasterCard or Visa credit card. I immediately knew this was a scam call, so I played along. I said I had an Amex (I don't have an Amex card). He said that according to his records, I pay my bills on time and I usually send a little extra towards the balance due of $4,000, and that he had a way of helping to reduce my monthly payments. I asked him what company he was calling from and he said, "Cardservices." I asked him again which company he was calling from, and miraculously, he was calling from Amex. When he asked me again to confirm my credit card number, I said, "well, if you have information about my payment history, why don't you repeat the credit card number you have for me back to me." That was enough to have this person hang up on me.
When I tried to return the call to the number listed below, there is a pre-recorded message stating that this number is discontinued and no longer in service. If the number is discontinued, how can they make calls from it. Recorded message also says, "Message 3, PA-UL." I found it interesting that the calling number had the same area code and first three numbers as my personal cell phone. They called me on my cell phone.
I'm sorry I can't give you more information. I tried to get what I could from these callers, since this is not the first time I've been called by them. Thank you.
