I initially found a position opening on LinkedIn for "Entry Level Marketing Coordinator" at CapreLife, in which I applied for via LinkedIn through submitting my resume. All seemed well and I received a call about a week later asking for an in-person interview. I scheduled this and received a confirmation email from the company. As I was looking at a new job, I looked into their online presence. There was nothing I could find online about their business, aside from their website and LinkedIn page. They shared that they have been in business 10 years, but have only one employee on LinkedIn (the owner), two likes on Facebook, no followers on Instagram and only had one post on their LinkedIn and Facebook pages that were posted around the time I received a call to come in.

On the day of my interview I received a text from the number listed on the company site, (248)497-6945, asking for me to confirm my appointment. This was a personalized text, and not an automated one, which arose some concern and uneasiness as I've never known a business to do that. Upon the day of my interview, I drove to the area and saw that it was not the greatest location. There was a suspicious man walking back and forth on the phone for quite a while, causing me to hesitate to leave my car. Once I decided to enter the building, I saw that it was very outdated and did not seem safe. When looking at the building directory, the suite the company claims to have been in was shown as Vacant. As soon as I saw this, I turned around and immediately left.

After about an hour after my interview was set to transpire, I blocked the number that was listed as their work number. I had no contact with the company until a little after 6PM that day when I received another email asking me to call and reschedule for a second chance. The alarming part of this, was that in the lower portion of the email signature, the company number had changed to (786)564-5224, which was not listed anywhere else online with their website or LinkedIn. Additionally, it ironically had changed after I blocked what is listed as their main number.

I believe that this was a scam to either retrieve my account information or social security number, or perhaps even a human trafficking situation.
