The man said his name was Mark Holloway and he's trying to keep my boyfriend's account from going into collections. When I asked, he gave me the account number and balance he claimed was due, without asking for any verification that I had any right to access this information. I've never known a creditor to give the full account number to a person other than the actual account holder, without expressed consent. Also, how would he have gotten my number from the account info, when I'm not on the account. I wrote down all the information he gave me and showed it to my boyfriend who confirmed, that's not his account number, nor balance due. "Mark" gave me 800-772-1413 as the call back number for payment arrangements.

I applied for a credit card that was approved. Then I tried to activate it and on several times they told me to send pictures of driver licence. Which I did. Several days later I called to see about the approval they kept saving picture too blurry. Do I used 5 different divorced to send pictures and they say the same thing. This last time on 6-27-2019. The guy wanted me to send pictures of social security card. Bank statement and copy of Iicence again. He has all the info already. I don't understand why they can't use the computer to expand the image and why now they want copy of social and bank and licence. I'm worried it's a scam and they have all my information.

I did contact capital one and they took my email very seriously.  

The CO fraud department said it is a scam and will be stopped. 

 

Four neighbors in their 70’s received the same email.

I received a letter (see attached pdf file) purporting to be from Capital One Bank asking for personal information in connection with my account. I don't have any accounts at Capital One Bank.

Letter & envelope from Capital One Bank mentioning International Sweepstakes attached.

The important fact is my mother "*** ***" has been deceased since Feb 2007 !!!!!

I have tried phoning the number on the letter but it only takes messages.

I have looked up the address in NY and it is "Human Rights Watch" + the phone number is different.

I have tried to also trace the return address on the envelope..... and came up withnothing....which is no surprise as "Mississasagua" is even spelled wrong.

I am most upset to be getting a scam letter for my deceased mother !!!!!
