The scanner advertised online as Canon, who I was trying to reach regarding a computer technical support issue. I was told they needed access to my computer to fix the problem. Once they had access they installed something which made my system unable to operate. They told me I would have to pay a fee of $99.99 to get my computer running again. When I realized I was speaking to a 3rd party (not Canon directly) I called my credit card (PayPal) to dispute the fee. I than received a call from the scammer (Wiz Electronics) in which the caller used profanities and threats. I definitely knew at this point I had been scammed. The scammer then fraudulently wrote to PayPal saying they were me and authorizing the charges.
