I was contacted by an alleged recruiter from Takeda Company which was either from Switzerland or Sweden. researched the recruiters name on LinkedIn and she had a profile that confirmed what she said. There were actually other individuals conversing online with each other in Dutch I think. I was told I had a project I needed to complete to determine my writing style, etc. I completed the project and was sent a check via fed ex to deposit. The check looked legit and I researched the bank online and confirmed the same address etc. I even searched the check signer's name and he was the CEO of the bank according to google. Anyway, the part that really gets me is that I've been a customer of Wells Fargo for literally 40 years as they started as Guaranty Bank, then Central Fidelity, then Wachovia and now Wells Fargo and in all that time, whenever I deposited a check, they NEVER allowed me access to the full amount - NEVER! Even when I'd get a tax return check from the Federal Government, Wells Fargo never allowed me access of the full amount of the check. So when I deposited the check, I was told I had access to all the funds. WHAT??? Didn't think much about it until the next day when my account was overdrawn for the same amount of the check. I went back and forth with Wells Fargo who said they have no control over if the funds are fully available or not - something they don't control. Why then, over the last 40 years have I never had access to the full amount of a deposited check and then automatically, this forgery check gets deposited?????????? WF basically said I had no basis to get my money back but again, had they held funds back from a check written in California for funds in Virginia, then I wouldn't be out this large amount. They could have also called to get verification of funds but did not.
