We used VRBO and scammer was the property owner. We asked her if she offered a lower rental rate for military since we are retired military. She said she would discount the rental rate if we dealt directly with her and cut out VRBO which charges a fee. We said ok but would cancellation rules be the same (30 days before no fine) she said yes. We transferred $3500 in advance payment @ year in advance by Zelle. We did decide to cancel and told her @ 90 days in advance. Offered her to refund the advance payment over time. She has returned none of the $3500 and has only responded twice asking only which of her properties we reserved and why we cancelled. No further communication and no refund. It has been @ 3 months. We have been scammed.
