Canadian Business Phonebook Reports & Reviews (6)

A few months back I was contacted by a lady that said she was from canadian business phonebook telling me that they have a website dedicated to professionals for people to find them and asked if I would be interested. I told them I had been looking into advertisement for my business. At this point she proceeded to ask about my info, confirming what they had already found through my own advertisement on social media and explained that if I went through with the service, they’d give me 10% off for paying with credit card. At that time I did not have one for the company so I said that I was good and to maybe give me a shout at a later date. Fast forward to last week, when I get a call from John A**** saying that my invoice is past due. At this point a Ted flag went up because I never said to proceed nor did I sign any form of paper work. He’s called everyday for the last week. I was finally able to have a moment yesterday and look up the company and there has been NUMEROUS complaints/warnings/scam alerts. This morning he called at 745 demanding money again and I told him that after researching the “company” that they’d been reported many many times as a scam and to not contact me again, he began yelling at me. I said if he calls me again I would file a report with the police and my lawyers would be in contact, to which he tried yelling at me that he’d call the police too and jabbered on about verbal agreement. I told him I never signed any contract and I never fully agreed, that I was only interested at said time. He began to yell again, at which point I just hung up

The Call. First, con artists made a cold calls to my business phone. Being busy on the tools I was asked to “confirm” the address, telephone number, and other information, claiming it’s for a listing the company has in its business directory. There was implication that my company had already signed up for this and that they’re just “verifying” an arrangement the company already has with the directory. Which no such agreement has ever been set up. The scammers then fired off a rapid series of questions and they said they would send an information package in the mail along with the cost of services which never came. Later I received a phone call stating it was from someone in collections saying I apparently owed money. When I requested for what, they played back some tape-recording. I did not consent to any advertisement nor did I receive any proof of services that I apparently received.

The Bill. The con artist then sent an urgent “invoice” for $600+ including a copy of the bogus “directory.” This whole scam is apparently not new and it ran out of Montreal in 2000-2004 where an individual was charged and in November 2006 and sent to prison. These pretend ads that they claim to make without consent are worthless and are never distributed or promoted as promised. Often, they’re just websites with listings of various businesses. They request you pay via etransfer or you may pay with your credit card, on this sheet where they ask for all your personal information. Our company has never agreed to pay or need or want the services from this directory. This threat of using the name of the person who answered the phone and playing some ridiculous “verification tape” as “proof” that my company owes them money is absurd. I have stood firm on my refusal to pay for services I didn’t authorize. I am filing a complaint here and have let the FTC know by filing a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint or calling 877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357). Anyone experiencing such issues should to the same. Your complaints help shape the FTC’s law enforcement agenda, so it’s important to sound off when you spot a scam.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!

They called me while I was distracted in the morning getting my daughter ready for school and said they were sending over an information package, and slipped in along with an Invoice for their services. I said sure, I would take a look at the package and see if we wanted to proceed with their services, but still had NO idea what they did. Immediately after checking online I see that they have a kindergarten website setup to just act like a business and take people's money. They don't provide ANY service. They have appeared with slightly different names over the last couple years, this clearly is the latest. Multiple complaints on the ScamPulse.com regarding threatening calls, abusive behavior. Do not fall for any of it! I called back to a couple of lines they provide to only ever get an answering service. I left 3 different messages on the exact same day to cancel having anything sent out, so they can try and replay my agreed message, but it does not matter. We will not give away our money to these con-artists. I also have copies of my email to them to ensure that a track record of my contact with them is traced. So frustrating that this happens. ***** **** ** ****** ****** *****

* **** **** ********** I don't know how they get my contact information, because I never searched them, I never try to get their service, even I don't know who are they, now the say I am in their platform without my autorizacion, they want I pay money for a service I never requested, I don't want and I never signed. Currently I pay similar promotions with other companies but I contacted them, I signed an agreement.

I told them that please remove me from their platform since I didn't request their service, I never payed a portion for an agreement, I never gave them my personal information, but they say that they can not, that I have to pay.

Called us saying we've done advertising with them in the past and our account is up for renewal. We have never heard of this "company" let alone done business with them. They keep calling us and emailing invoices saying we owe them hundreds of dollars.

I was contacted to sign up for a business directory listing. I thought I was renewing my yellow pages listing as I knew that subscription was coming to an end. The lady on the phone was very confusing, but I gave my credit card number and paid the initial invoice for $749.21. My wife alerted me that this looked like a scam and she tried to contact them to cancel the service. She spoke to the same lady that sent the i total invoice, but they lie and say that you spoke to someone else. They then play the recording over from my initial contact with them. Fast forward 6 months later and they are saying we have an outstanding invoice for 2018 for $749.21. The funny thing is we have never received an invoice by mail or anything related to the listing. My wife went online and found their sketchy looking Facebook page, along with their sketchy website. I have asked for them to remove my business information but they refuse to until the invoice is squared up. They are threatening late charges and to send it to collections. We emailed them directly numerous times asking to be removed from this advertising but never received an email back. They only call and harass us.
