I received a notice from this company for filing a 2021 Annual Report for my LLC. They are charging $120 for the filing. They only take checks. At the very bottom of the form, in fine print, it says: The state of Connecticut report can be filed directly through the state for the statutory fee of $20 per year."

This form is very misleading.

If you check the address of the company, you will see that it is at a UPS Store in Stamford.

Our LLC received a very official-looking "2021 - Annual Report Instruction Form" via the USPS. It had a customer ID number that looks very much like a Federal ID number, the Secretary of State Control Number, and the Formation Date (of the LLC) at the top of the form.

In the very fine print, easily overlooked (almost overlooked), a disclaimer is printed in light, all caps printing: "C. F. S. is not a government agency and does not have a contract with any governmental agency to provide this service."

And then, in heavy black bold print "Business Annual Report(s) may be filed with the West Virginia Secretary of State for the statutory $25 fee."

The form then continues with Step 1 - 6. Step 5 is Payment Information.

Business owners should be aware of this scam and be careful to read all parts of any mailings received pertaining to their legal requirements.
