Joined a Facebook group with the name "Mini Aussie Puppies for Rehoming", a private group with a description of 1-year genetic health guarantee and up-to-date on shots, etc. The admins on this group are the suspect whose name on Facebook is BVK John Khen, with a profile picture of a man and a woman, with a small child with puppies as the banner, and another user with the name "Ndansi Pride Junior" with a location in Bend, Oregon. I contacted the admin "BVK John Khen" who claims to be a pet breeder and asked for more information on the puppies. After being asked many questions about our area and home, sent me pictures of his current female puppies as that is what I was in search of. After choosing one and trusting this was a breeder, he said he was asking $700 and asked about our budget, he agreed on $600 total with a $200 deposit to get the reservation paperwork to transfer ownership of the puppy, with the remaining upon pick up which was scheduled for 11/12/2022 around 9-10 AM. I then sent a $200 deposit via Apple Pay to the phone number provided for the suspect. The next day while awaiting the reservation document/paperwork, I had not heard from the suspect yet and reached out to see if it was done after checking my messenger and email. He then told me he had an accident that day and was unable to get anything done for the puppies, and he would get it done the next day and send it to me. The day after this, he then sent the document with my name and the puppy's information with an AKC (American kennel club) and pet-friendly stamps on it, which he informed me legally transferred ownership to me and my boyfriend, and he collected both our names, my email and phone number as well as our address. After this, he told me the next step was to take her to the vet for a final check and if needs any shots, and then she'd be ready for pickup. The next day he told me he attempted to bring her in but had many puppies that needed to be checked for pickup that day, and he would attempt the next day. The suspect then messages me the next day and tells me his vet he uses often is asking $250 for the visit and they only had $150 left over from buying supplies for upcoming litters, and asked for an additional $100 to cover the cost, and would be deducted. He then video-chatted me and it looked as if the suspect w[censored]ding his phone over another screen and playing a video of this same puppy that I was sent pictures of, the ideal placement was in the same place photos were taken same time of day, while in the same timezone as this suspect, it was after 6 PM and dark out, and questioned this to him as well. The video lasted less than a minute and he did not show his face, but he did speak in the video and said puppies name, Bailey, and hung up shortly after. During this time I had messaged some of the "people" that had posted reviews on the page and one wrote back instantly, as the suspect was also writing me and told me I could call him, once we spoke the voice of this person sounded the same as the suspect when he spoke on the video call earlier. I informed the suspect that we already withdrew the balance of the money to give upon pick up, as we were on vacation visiting my father who is sick, and wanted to make sure we didn't spend it. He asked if there was another way to get him the extra money and we told him we agreed on the terms of a $200 deposit with the rest upon pick up, after continuing to push more I asked what that $250 covered as no vet has ever been that high for a check-up. He told me "to get her shots done and probably check on her health status," I wrote him back questioning this and the pricing but was ignored. I began to dig into the admin and group and found it was only made 4 months ago, and seems to may have made additional fake accounts or hacked accounts to possibly post false reviews of his services to continue scamming. I am not sure if this is a true breeder or scammer, but I'd like to open an investigation into this if possible as soon as possible. I will be contacting apple pay as well as my bank to attempt to get my money back as well, but I am also concerned if this puppy is real it may have been stolen from me as well, and this was supposed to be my service animal and we are heartbroken by this loss and started to spend additional money preparing for her to come home.
