I saw an ad on Facebook for some weight loss vitamins. I'm typically skeptical, but with the new year, I thought it would be a good jump start on weight loss. When my initial transaction was declined, I took that as a sign that it was unnecessary and went on about my day. Shortly after, I was sent a text from my credit card company asking if I attempted the transaction. I responded with yes, and their reply was "if your transaction was declined, you can now try again." Well, at this point, I wasn't trying again. However, an hour later, I received an email stating my order had been processed. I was shocked as I had NOT authorized the reattempt for this transaction. Trying to call and email the company resulted in nothing (was on hold for over 30 mins). When I called the credit card company and explained everything, they advised they couldn't do anything (even though unauthorized. Needless to say, I will be paying off and canceling all my cards with them since they don't honor their fraud protection. I will probably file a complaint here against them later). Unfortunately, I'm out my money, but lesson learned to remain skeptical always.
