Contacted a computer service vendor by selecting phone number on the internet. This vendor had been utilized before. The phone number must have been hacked by the scammers. We conducted an on-line share of computer as in the past (apparently with the scammers). The scammers sent an email confirmation on Best Buy letterhead, to confirm service terms and agreement. The computer was repaired to a point, and then the scammers requested a "deposit" to cover the installation of equipment found to be necessary, on-site at our house, to repair the computer (for a term of three days). They required a gift card to cover the deposit. When the gift cards were received at our house, the balances were zero. We are trying to work with Amazon thru which our Chase account made the purchases. The merchants to the cards are Apple and Best Buy. We have had no success in recovery of our money.
