The letter requests consent to be in partnership with attorney Edward Mason and share in 90% of $7,520,000, with a condition that Edward Mason's desire for 10% be shared among charity organizations. Edward Mason begins by telling a story of an unclaimed "Payable-on-Death" savings deposit left by a person with same last name with no surviving relatives to make claim on estate. He claims that the deceased worked with an "Energy Company in Canada" and "died in an accident in Niagara, Ontario Canada, Seven years ago." He goes on to claim that "this is 100% risk free" and wishes for immediate contact be made by privately via:([email protected]).

We received a very professional looking letter from Butch, Mason & Glickman LLP that there was a deceased policy holder under my Dad's name, Anthony Mukherjee, that was one of the law firms' clients and they would help us get the money in the sam of $7,520,000.

The letter entices one to contact the lawyer, but since we had been recent victims of identity theft, we checked online first and saw that others had reported a similar type promise and letter showing us that this was another scam.

I received a letter today, 7-9-19, that was dated 6-4-19 from an apparent law firm in Canada describing the death of a person 7 years ago with the same last name as me. This deceased person had a $7.5 million life insurance policy with no beneficiary and the attorney wants to find a relative before 7 years time, after which the money is turned over to the abandoned property division of the state. Further, the attorney proposes to partner with me to add my name to the policy, wanting 10% of the proceeds going to charity with the remaining 90% to be shared between he and I. He states that this claim requires a high level of confidentiality and may take up to thirty days to process and wants a contact number. He lists his name as Edward Mason from the above law firm with the above web site and email address and phone number. No money was requested by this initial letter.
