Contacted to see if was interested in selling my travel club membership. Being was in Mexico demanded different fees that needed to be paid to move ahead with sale. After each transaction they came up with new charge after second time I decided to back out of sale have been waiting for refund since last October

I received a call from an outfit I later determined to be a scam operator, who already knew that my husband and I owned weeks at a resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The important point here is that they contacted us, already equipped with private information: (1) our full names, (2) our phone number, (3) name and location of resort, (4) type of weeks owned, and (5) the knowledge that we would not be interested in selling, but maybe we would consider “renting.” After several days, of back-and-forth phone calls and emailed official-looking documents, they showed "their hand" - insisting that in order to proceed with the rental of 10 weeks from the "back end" of our contract, which would net us over $72,500, we would need to send a cashier's check to a title company in New Jersey for $3,750 to cover the cost of "registering" with the Mexican government. I have lodged a complaint with the resort about their failure to safeguard our private information. Please advise others not to send any money to anyone in this kind of situation.

The person I talked with most at "BFM" used the name of "Christopher Baretta." "Christopher" weaved a complex scheme with mispronounced words, incomplete sentences, improbable reasons for various steps in his scheme, and high-pressure sales tactics ( "You don't want this deal to go away." and "You're already guaranteed to get reimbursed for this small fee, and then you'll also get the $72,500." )

It was, in fact, too good to be true.
