Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Mystery Shopper

Received a check after answering text about mystery shopper. I have done legit mystery shopper programs. Read the instructions which had contradictions. Call the bank to verify the "cashier check" was a fake. Northwest Bank does not operate in LA which is the address of Busagres Services. It was too good to be true.

Received text offering mystery shopper employment. Returned text with application. Few days later received priority package with instructions and a check for 2200. Instruction to deposit check and buy 1800 in Amex gift cards. Take photos of front and back of card after scratching off serial number covering along with pictures of receipt and clerks name, store name, date time etc. Then text report to a phone number. Knew it was a scam immediately upon receiving counterfeit payment check.
