I was employed as a gas piper - generator maintenance technician for almost 3 years at Budget electric generators. What bothered me the most is how dishonest and misleading they claim to be about their "so-called" licensed contractors and installers. First of all out of the 15 or so employees they have only one has any type of license at all. Even including a valid driver's license. Budget electric installs on average at least one natural gas Generac generator a day or about five or six a week. Their main install crew conveniently consists of the owner, Renee Massey-Collins, son whose name is Anthony (Tony) Plouffe who doesn't have an apprenticeship license, a journeyman license, and last I knew he does not even have a drivers license. Tony does not even have a high school diploma and he is a multiple felon who happened to be on probation for drug posessions and violent charges that he actually bragged about when I was there . Their main estimator Bill Russell is also not licensed at all not even an apprenticeship license that would allow him on a job. Their second install crew leader is John Treflner, another non licensed electrician who also does generator repairs and maintenances (oil changes), as well as installing generators. Budget electric does millions of dollars a year worth of installs for the Generac Corporation. They have contracts with Lowe's and Costco under the false pretense that they have licensed electricians working on their jobs. I have personally witnessed this for years. I don't know much about running an electrical company but I would assume my installers should be licensed especially when dealing with something that could burn their house down. I am scared for the customers who hire Budget Electric because they're all being lied to. I am also worried for their neighbors and their family's safety. I asked my coworker's what would happen if an inspector showed up on a job and no one had licenses and my foreman quickly explained to me that all they would have to do is call the one guy that has a license in the company and have him run over ASAP and if that ever happens just lie to the inspector and say that Joe who happens to be the only one that has a license ran up to Home Depot to grab a part and he will be right back. I was told to do this the first day on the job in case it ever happens. I am not a disgruntled ex-employee I now work full time for a reputable Gas Company but this company has been getting away with this for years and i feel it is my duty as decent human being to notify someone on how this company has been running. I know i would not feel comfortable with these men in my home or any of my family members either. I hope you understand the seriousness of this issue and look into this matter as soon as possible.
