Once emailed they asked for a little bit more information, when we were ready for the dog, where we were located, name of our vet, closest airport for transport of the puppy, etc.
They said they could fly them in the next few days and just needed a confirmation with payment.
This should have been my first red flag. I did question it, but then again I have never done this kind of business on distance. But the methods of payment were not your typical, or at least not to me. So I thought well I don't do a lot of purchasing this way so ok. Then their wording in emails was a little off. But I thought, don't judge, not everyone is great at English.
Thankfully, because I used a payment method not typical I could only send half of the money requested.
They said they would send documentation as soon as the payment processed. It did and no response from them. I called the number they texted me from initially. That was strange as well. There was no, "hi this is....". I said I would like some kind of confirmation that I did not just get scammed as I have not heard from you at all today. They said they were working on the documentation and would get back to me. But they did not ask my name or who I was.
I am not proud of the fact that I didn't listen to the my gut when it came to the red flags. But we have been waiting quite a while to find a puppy we agreed on and also agreed on the timing. We were excited and sucked in with the cute photos and stories.
