my employee found this number online thinking it was a Brother tech support number-- the website called itself "brother IT services" for a basic printer - network problem. they convinced the employee that the network was corrupted and had the employee install a program so they could remotely control the computer. not sure what info they were able to glean or if any malware was added during this takeover. there does appear to be a couple new programs that were installed during that time. i called back the number and the man who answered tried to convince me that a rare, "Denial of Service attack" had trashed my new printer to the point where I'd have to buy a new printer, and then he tried to pressure me into buying expensive "firewall software" costing hundreds of dollars . I googled this phone number and there appears to be many reports of scams by this number for Roku and Alexa also.

The printer did not end up having any issues at all, just had to Remove and Add New Printer again.

ScamPulse.com should call that company and pretend to have a network connection problem and see what happens.

I'm scared of retaliation, not knowing what info this scammer got from my employee, so please do not publish this right away or at all-- wait at least 4 months if you must please.
