I received a letter from the "Department of Education" with a number to call about options for enrolling in a new repayment plan and consolidation of my student loan. I was asked to verify a series of information. The information given was the name, address, and phone numbers of my mother and grandmother. I unfortunately provided my driver's license and social security number for "verification." I was asked to download my student loan report from studentaid.gov and send the file to [email protected] (I did this). I was asked to pay 1539 dollars for the service (I did not pay). Once I realized the call was fraudulent, I hung up. I did not provide any banking or credit card information.
