I was on the Internet, when a message indicated that my computer was compromised and my data was at risk. There was a number to contact, 1-855-304-3337, which I did. The person on the line said that I reached a 'Microsoft Certified Technician,' as opposed to a company, which I thought was weird.

After a bit of questioning, I learned that I reached a company called Brakelogic (http://www.breaklogic.us). The person I spoke to had an Indian–as in India, not Native American–accent, so I asked where he was.

He said he was in Washington, DC, so I asked for the company's web site. He gave it to me, and I noticed that they were located in Herndon, VA, not Washington, DC despite the operators' claims to the contrary. I also noticed that they had a .us domain, which was also a bit weird.

I continued to ask questions, till I got enough information about the company, then I expressed my discomfort, and hung up.
