BrainBro Technologies Reports & Reviews (1)

- Dallas, TX, USA

False virus alarm attached to a Yahoo article link, which halted my computer and set off a loud audio alarm and prevented me from turning off the internet untiI called the number listed as "Microsoft Technical Support". The person (someone with an Indian accent claiming to be a "Matt Brown", then asked me to activate a remote portal to "fix the problem", still claiming to be a Microsoft representative. He was able to tell me whose name the warranty was under, then told me I would have to pay $180 for them to fix the problem. I declined and called "Matt" back later to get the company's information, which he said was BrainBro Technical Support in Fremont, California. There is a website with this address. The company is evidently in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, according to WHOIS. It is my belief, after having a trusted computer specialist inspect my computer, that this at best a tech support scam, and possibly something worse such as phishing.
