Lance Strickland, the owner of Central Arkansas Catering Services, was contracted to cater our wedding on October 7, 2023. The invoice we have with him states that we would receive prime rib, served medium with au ju and horseradish cream sauce, chicken parmesan, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, fresh green beans wrapped in bacon, rolls and a salad for 70 people. Upon arrival to our reception, Lance told us that he had dropped the mashed potatoes and burned himself so they were not there. He told the bride this, after dinner had been announced and she was in line to get food. There was no time to dispute anything, only eat what had been brought and communicate with him at a later time. Lance did show up, bring very overcooked and cold prime rib, chicken parmesan, canned green beans, rolls with no butter, and a salad. He left before talking to the bride or groom. Two days after the wedding we contacted him and thanked him for still coming, wishing him well with his injuries, but asking for a partial refund since one side dish was missing and the other was replaced with a lower quality item without consent. All food was also cold and over cooked, resulting in a very low quality dinner.

Talking with Lance Strickland has proven to be futile, as he has argued no wrong has been done. He knew the date of the wedding when items were quoted, so his claim that green beans are out of season, which they are not, is unfounded. At the very least, the cost of the missing side dish should be refunded. After communicating with him, he is estimating that mashed potatoes and gravy for 70 people results in a total of ~$18, which goes to show how low of quality materials he is using on a $1,225 catering bill before tax and serving fees.

We feel our contract was not met, and we deserve a partial refund. When trying to report a claim to the Better Business Bureau, we found that his business has no street address, which makes it impossible to report him. Additionally, we found a review that he has completely not shown up for events in the past due to other supposed injuries. We believe this company may not even be operating with a legal business license and has defrauded not only ourselves, but other individuals as well.
