I received a text message about a potential job opportunity. I followed the texting prompts and was told I would be admitted for “training”. Training consisted of confirming hotel reservations and making commissions off of those bookings. The goal was to confirm 40 reservations per day. However we had to keep a bank of 100$ USD in our commissions, which was never explained to me, at the start of every day in order to move forward. I began today with a commission of 41.21, which I had accumulated during training. Unfortunately it was not enough to move forward, Alice, the one who hired me on, informed me that I would have to pay money out of my own pocket to move forward. I explained that I could not do that, she persisted to say “she’s not a welfare bank, why should she give me the money to complete my assignments.” As well as hurl as series of other insults about my intelligence, and insinuations that I was poor. She then threatened to have me thrown in prison once I mentioned the operation could be a scam.
