Scammer sent a letter to my home via USPS Priority Mail. The letter was titled, "Coca-Cola Service Evaluation Assignment." It included a check payable to me for $3,450, and provided instructions for me to deposit the check. The money was to be used to purchase Nike gift cards as a "secret shopper" in various denominations, and $500 of the check was to be retained by me as payment for my services as secret shopper. The letter also advised me to collect information about the store and cashier that sold me the cards. It goes on the instruct me to scratch off the area on the backs of the cards and capture images of the front and back of cards. The letter then advises me to email all the information I collected to the email address they provided. I did not follow any of the directions in the letter, as I immediately recognized it as a scam. I googled this company and found reports of other people receiving similar letters dating back to at least 2019.
