If you look at hotels through Expedia, watch out for the numbers they list. I called a hotel thinking I was calling the hotel directly, and this is how the company perceives itself to be. They told me I could book my hotel with free cancellation. I tried to call the hotel directly to cancel the reservation (<1 hour from when I booked), and they told me that I could not cancel as I booked from a third party. This is the first time I realized I had not booked through the hotel directly. After calling the number back that I originally booked with, it was tough to get them to even say who they worked for. The reps kept telling me that I had to be connected to guest services to cancel, and I sat on hold 3 different times for over 30 minutes each time with no pick up. I called and asked to speak to management, and same thing. They charged me before before even sending a confirmation email (still haven't gotten a confirmation).
