Had a Harley for sale on Craig’s list and the guy emailed several times requesting a report from bikesfax.com which does not exist. I finally did it and the realized I was scammed. Now he has info.

I was looking to sell my motorcycle on craigslist. The scammer asked me to buy a VIN report from bikesfax.com. I told him I wouldn't, but offered to buy a report from carfax.com. He became irate and said he would only accept a report from bikesfax.com. This site had it's domain registered 2 months ago for the first time. The ScamPulse.com sent a mail to the physical location, but it was return. This site also shares the same information with https://www.autosmartfax.com/, which also seems to be a scam.

Craigslist motorcycle buyer scam. Potential buyer offered to purchase my bike with cash but was driving to me from a distance. When I asked buyer to call me, he said he had lost the ability to speak but would have his interpreter call before heading my way. I agreed and arranged a meeting place at my bank. On morning of the meet, he requested that I visit website bikesfax.com to run bike vin before he would meet me. The business address is not valid and phone call to business was a robo answer machine with no way to talk to a real person. Also their fee of $19.95 is much more than $5.95 fee websites of approved (National Motor Vehicle Title Information System) vin searches charge. Obviously trying to steal $19.95 from consumer and/or their cc# and identity.
